A Quest for Color
It's time to celebrate fall. I'm on a path to find my artistic niche combining realism with abstract elements. This was an experimental piece today inspired by a hike I took with my favorite guy above Nederland Colorado. I used a heavy gesso texture, ground it with some intense cyan, and decided I was just playing today with no pressure. Some nice things happened and most of all I had fun.
I am leaning toward representative pieces immersed in abstract elements. The landscapes help me escape getting caught up in subject matter. But I want to start applying this style to a variety of subjects once I have overcome my tendency toward and overabundance of detail. A journey starts with a few timid steps....or a hike to get out of the smoke in the valley.
